Warcraft the movie has a new character as "Lone Survivor" star Ben Foster will take on the role of "the Last Guardian" the Prophet Medivh in the movie.
IGN reports that Ben Foster talked about his character and his role within the movie during an interview session with the website.
"The character in Warcraft that I play is named Medivh. He's a mage, which is essentially a sorcerer," Foster revealed. "He came up in a time protecting an area, and the way he protected this area was through magic. As peace returned to this land he took a break. He hung up his staff, so to speak, or let his guns get dusty. We meet him as his friends are returning asking for his help in a battle."
Foster continued by saying;
"What's exciting about Duncan Jones' take on this video game is that it shows both sides of the war. It shows both sides of a conflict, which is exciting to me. It's not just a video game turned into a movie. It's asking, hopefully, an important question of, where do we limit our compassion for what we consider to be the bad guys?"
The Lone Survivor star also commented on the movie's effects and motion-capture works.
"The way that they're pushing motion-capture -- I just saw some of the test footage -- it's unlike anything I've ever seen. It's performance-capture. It pushes it to the next level. It's going to be one helluva 3D event."
So far, Foster is the only cast member to have an official role in the movie.
Screenrant reports that "Vikings" star Travis Fimmel will take on the role of the human warrior Anduin Lotha while the rest of the cast such as Sleepy Hollow's Clancy Brown and Ghost Protocol's Paula Patton have not yet receive a part in the movie although it was rumored that Brown will take on Khadgar, a powerful wizard and Medivh's mentor.
For those who are not familiar with character in the Warcraft games, Medivh is the last Guardian of Tirisfal, an ancient line of arc mages who are charged with keeping the demonic horde known as Burning Legion from entering Azeroth. Medivh was corrupted by the demon lord Sargeras in opening the gateway into Azeroth for the Orcish Horde to invade it, and was killed during the siege.
Medivh returned to third instalment of the game, Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos as a prophet to warn the warring factions of the Human Alliance and the Horde, along with the Night Elves to combat the Burning Legion and there Undead allies.
Warcraft the movie is directed by Duncan Jones and it will be release in cinemas March 11, 2016.
