During an after panel talk with IGN during E3, Nolan North, a voice actor who is most recognised as the voice of Nathan Drake, has revealed that he believes that the latest instalment of the Uncharted series will be the final game in the series.
"I believe it's the last one - nothing's confirmed, but I believe it's the last one Naughty Dog wants to do."
Nolan then goes on to say that he would not want any other studio taking over Naughty Dog's place as the developers if there were to be any more new iterations from the series.
"I hope somebody else doesn't pick up the mantle because they've done it so well for so long - but yeah, it's one of those things where you just have to cross that bridge when you get to it."
"It's bittersweet but at a certain point you want to go out on top."
There's no denying that the title of the game, 'A Thief's End' and the cinematic cut scene shown in the E3 trailer doesn't imply some form of disastrous foreboding that is to be expected within the game. Even the game's synopsis doesn't sound too promising:
"Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he's willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves."
Will this really be the last game in the franchise? If so, how would it all play out?
Uncharted 4 is an action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and is exclusive to the PlayStation 4. It is set for a 2015 release.
