New Karen O Solo Album, Crush Songs, Talks about Heartache

It looks like a Karen O solo has been brewing for quite some time now. The lead singer of group Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O, has just announced that she now has her 1st solo album, Crush Songs. The album will be out by the 9th of December in the United States and on the 8th in the United Kingdom, via Julian Casablancas' Cult label.

Karen O also posted about the album on website. Being the artist that she is, instead of simply making a normal post, she decided to post in a form of a note. The note said, "When I was 27 I crushed a lot. I wasn't sure I'd ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are a soundtrack to what was an ever continuing LOVE CRUSADE. I hope they keep you company on yours."

Although the album, Crush Songs, is primarily talking about heartache, Karen O is not as heartbroken as people might think. At 35 years old, she is currently married to director Barnaby Clay.

Despite the fact that this album is her 1st time to be out on her own, her time Yeah Yeah Yeahs was not the only thing that kept her busy. She also got an Oscar nomination for "The Moon Song" only recently. This song was co-written with her then-boyfriend Spike Jonze for "Her." Karen O was also the composer of the soundtrack for "Where the Wild Things Are", which Jonze dedicated to her and her children.

Moreover, what makes things more interesting is that a different album of hers, KO at Home, was not even intended for release. It was intended as a personal gift for the producer of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Dave Sitek, famed multi-instrumentalist. "Someone" found it in a suitcase that left behind after hauling his stuff out of his apartment, and posted it online.
