According to the news of Hollywood Reporter, the director for Predator franchise reboot will be Shane Black.

After his Iron Man 3 and Lethal Weapon, he is now handling the 80's classic movie 'Predator'.

Black wrote and directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3. He is also the screenwriter of Lethal Weapon. Moreover, according to some source (Mashable), he has some history with the Predator franchise.

From the additional source, Collider, since Black has history on working on previous Predator, it shows that he is a veteran screenwriter and has developed a signature tone and style that is a welcome reprieve from generic studio actioners. Moreover, he already built good reputation and has proved himself to be a strong director with the incredible Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and he handled a massive budget on Iron Man 3.

Way back in 1986, Black was already heavily courted by the studio to punch up the original Predator script, but he repeatedly declined the offer although he took up its offer for a minor acting role according to THR said.

Compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura, Black played Rick Hawkins whose character is the team's tech expert, and soon becomes the hunting alien's first onscreen kill.

From previous years, Fox brought four sequels of 'Predators' and harvested success from 2 movies created which are Alien vs. Predator films.

As of the moment, there is no exact date for the screening of the rebooted film.

Screen Rant writer Kofi Outlaw said that Black will handle the direction of the reboot movie and the scripting duties will be assigned to Fred Dekker, who is best known for writing/directing late '80s/early '90s cult films like Robocop 3 and The Monster Squad.

Will the the production, screen writer, and director will stick to the original Predator film or will Shane Black bring something fresh to the nearly 30-year-old franchise?
