Comedian and actor Eddie Murphy filed defamation case against Brando Murphy and the former prevailed.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the comedian succeeded in a strange $50 million defamation lawsuit brought by a young comedian named Brando Murphy.

Who Is Brando Murphy?

Officially, he is not related to the famous comedian Eddie Murphy. Hollywood Reporter described him as a less famous and young comedian. But how he got involve into dispute to Eddie Murphy?

In TMZ news, the said younger and less famous Murphy seemed insinuate that he was the older, more famous Murphy's son.

Eddie Murphy's lawyer Marty Singer wrote several threatening letters to Brando Murphy, claiming the comedian has all but advertised on a sandwich board that he's Eddie's offspring.

TMZ got the letter from the lawyer and it contained threats to sue a newbie comedian for millions if he doesn't back off.

-According to the letters got by TMZ, it includes what Brando has done:

-Changed his last name to Murphy

-Performing with Richard Pryor's son, Mason, in the "Sons of Comedy" tour.

-Showing up at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Eddie frequents and screaming, "My father won't talk to me!"

However, the young comedian had no plans of backing down and he answered all the allegations against him by sending his own fight-back letter to Eddie.

The letter contained that he's never presented or even claimed himself as Eddie's son and calling Eddie's accusations "vile, base, contemptible, miserable, wretched and loathsome."

Who wins?

Though Brando fights back, the favor was still given to Eddie Murphy. According to Judge William Stewart, Brando Murphy's claims fall into the category of specially protected activity under California's anti-SLAPP statute,

All warnings of Singer to the young comedian were in "anticipation of litigation" and the media defendants' statements were in furtherance of the constitutional right of free speech because "there is a public interest in Eddie Murphy in light of his accomplishments as a comedian and actor." said the judge.

On May 30, the judge Stewart adapted a tentative ruling and it is expected to be issued any day. But Brando has no patience to wait and he appealed the ruling earlier last week (Hollywood Reporter).
