One of the reasons viewers may like watching historical dramas is that they get to see their favorite actors with long silky locks.

A few actors can look good whether they are sporting a buzz cut or a long layered look. But some seem to look slightly better with one look or another

Here's a list of who looks good with longer hair and who is better off with a more contemporary look. Obviously liking an actor's look is all about personal preference. Here's what we think. Let us know if you agree and why.

Rocking the locks:

Lee Min Ho: He's a fine looking actor whatever time period his dramas take place in. But the long hair he wore as General Choi Young in the fusion drama "Faith: The Great Doctor" really suited him. It was easy to imagine him as a Goryeo warrior.

Jung Il Woo: He looked like a flower boy chaebol with his perfectly arranged short hair in "Flower Boy Ramen Shop" but as the devoted Prince Yang Myung in "The Moon Embracing The Sun," his long hair made him look serious and more substantial.

Ji Chang Wook: He's an appealing actor whatever his hair style but all the more memorable with the longer hair he wore for "Empress Ki." With shoulder-length hair he is actually prettier than most women.

Kim Bum: The actor's hair looked so good in a ponytail in "Goddess of Fire: Jeonji," that it may have persuaded his co-star Moon Geun Young to take him seriously. But then his hair also looked good when he dyed it gray in "The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry."

The long and the short of it:

With some actors it's hard to decide.

Yoo Ah In: He managed to look good with his scruffy long locks and facial hair in "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and also with his well-coiffed up-do in "Jang Ok Jung," but then he also made hearts flutter with a very short cut in "A Secret Love Affair." He will be sporting long hair again soon when he plays the title role of the doomed Prince Sado in the film "Sado." The jury is still out on this one.

Keeping it short:

Some actors need to keep it short.

Lee Jun Ki: The general consensus seems to be that Lee Jun Ki is more likeable when he plays roles in historical dramas but the short hair he wore when he played a thug in "Two Weeks" may be more flattering.

Park Yoochun: Although the weave they probably gave him in "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" looked more natural than the wig he probably wore in "Rooftop Prince," Park Yoochun seems overwhelmed by the longer do. His head is perfectly framed by shorter hair.
