Gina Carano news features "Conviction's" scheduled meeting with UFC executives, namely company president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertita. In a report by ESPN, the meeting is slated for the coming week in Los Angeles.
"One down, one to go," White said about the Gina Carano news. "I'm going to meet with Gina next week and get that f---ing thing done. Next week, man."
"It's just a matter of me and Lorenzo going to jump on a plane to Los Angeles, get in a room with her and her lawyer and get this thing done," he added.
Gina Carano news also reveals that she currently holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 7-1. Although she fell short in her last fight against Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino in 2009, which was supposed to be for the Strikeforce Women's Featherweight belt, she is still regarded as one of the top female fighters today.
"Conviction" has not competed professionally for five years now. She was scheduled to make a return in 2011, but was not able to do so due to medical issues. Since then, she has been appearing in various films, such as "Fight Girls," "Haywire," and most notably, "Fast & Furious 6."
She was also ranked #16 in Maxim's "Hot 100" list, and was also featured on the cover of ESPN Magazine's Body Issue of the same year.
Should she come back to professional mixed martial arts competition, she is expected to face reigning UFC champion "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey. The current 135-pound women's champion already expressed her intent to face Gina Carano.
"Whether she ever wants (to fight) again or not is entirely up to her, but ever since that day when I had that first taste of women's MMA, she's the fight I wanted," Rousey said about the Gina Carano news.
Dana White, on the other hand, spoke on behalf of "Conviction", declaring that she shares the same feelings as "Rowdy."
"There is no doubt about it, she wants to fight," White answered. "And she wants to fight Ronda."
