First it was a date complete with paparazzi snaps, now Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are showing their love on Twitter!

Looks like the 35-year-old Vampire Diaries hottie is really taking his new relationship public. He went on the social media site today and provided some assistance to his lady love who was asking friends to help her get a homeless dog adopted. Somerhalder tweeted, "some one please give Kate a GREAT HOME!!!! PLEASE!" and attached a link to Reed's profile.

The 26-year-old Twilight star posted a pic of an adorable dog on her WhoSay page, with the caption, "Hey friends. This is Kate. She needs a new home, and believe me I would take her if I could. I know this dog inside and out. She is the sweetest most lovey [sic] cuddly ball of mushiness. She has lots and lots of energy, and needs to be the only pet. She gets jealous and is a classic pit when it comes to cats, squirrels etc. She is great with all people and kids. Super submissive. Would love for her to go to a home close by so everyone can still visit. Email me if you or someone you know can adopt her. Thanks!"

Meanwhile, the new couple's tweets coincide with Somerhalder's ex and fellow Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev's social media updates. She has been posting inspirational and motivational quotes on her WhoSay and Instagram pages.

One reads, "Beauty is the opposite of perfection. It's about confidence, charisma and character." Another said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."

Are there more to these quotes than meets the eye? Can Dobrev, 25, be nursing a broken heart because of all these public display of affection? During the three years she spent with Somerhalder, the two kept their relationship under wraps. So is the Perks of Being a Wallflower star trying to uplift herself with positive posts? Or is it just plain 'ol coincidence?

You decide.
