Singer and actress Sulli has decided to take a break from the entertainment industry. She will take an indefinite break from performing with her group f(x). There is no word as to whether she will participate in promotional activities for her soon-to-be-released film "Pirates" with Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil.
It is also not known whether she will film the role she was cast for in "Fashion King," which will co-star Joo Won and Kim Sung Oh.
Sulli, who has previously been hospitalized due to a stress-related stomach pains, has been under considerable pressure lately. According to SM Entertainment, she has suffered because of the rumors circulating about her. Photos of Sulli were recently found in a wallet that supposedly belonged to Dynamic Duo's Choiza.
Dating rumors surfaced about the couple last September but the two insisted that they were only friends and had a close brother-sister relationship. They were in the news again when a netizen supposedly found Choiza's wallet and saw pictures in it. Two of the photos looked like couple photos while the third was a large photo of Sulli. The photos were posted online and went viral.
Choiza's agency Amoeba Culture confirmed that it was Choiza's lost wallet but refused to make a statement regarding the photos or any aspect of his personal life.
SM Entertainment announced that Sulli would be taking a break on f(x)'s official page. Her last promotion for the band's "Red Light" song was appearing on the music show Ingikayo.
"We regret to give f(x) fans this kind of news but ask for continuous support and love for f(x)."
"Because she is suffering physically from her ailments and mentally from the malicious and untrue rumors that are spreading about her, Sulli has requested that she take a break from all entertainment activities. After careful consideration, the agency has decided to minimize activities and give her a break in respect for her wishes and to protect our artists."
Victoria, Luna, Amber and Krystal will perform as f(x) for their Aug. 15 SMTOWN concert in Seoul. They will also focus on individual activities.
Although Sulli is now best known as a singer, she began her entertainment career as an actress. She began acting at the age of 11 when she played the young Princess Seonhwa of Silla in the drama "Ballad of Seo Dong." She appeared alongside labelmate SHINee's Choi Minho in "To The Beautiful You."
