What really happened to Damon and Bonnie last season? The Vampire Diaries Comic Con video explains it all.
After being left on "The Other Side" in the season five finale, viewers were left wondering whether the show's favorite witch, Bonnie (Kat Graham), and bad boy vampire, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), will be coming back for the new season this October.
"The Vampire Diaries" revealed the "real" reason behind Damon and Bonnie's ill fate at the San Diego Comic Con last week.
The Vampire Diaries Comic Con video has Graham and Somerhalder brainstorming about the reason behind the possible write off of their characters. They go from denial to insisting that everyone on set loves them.
Coupled with interview-like inserts of the cast and crew expressing their "hatred" of the pair, the video brought laughs to the Comic Con audience.
Nina Dobrev (Elena/Katherine) goes as far as claiming her ex-boyfriend's (Somerhalder) dressing room as her own, while Zach Roerig (Matt) asked for Somerhalder's Teen Choice Awards surfboard. Candace Accola (Caroline), on the other hand, shares a sandwich incident that got her "angry" at Graham.
After thinking that they may be destined for a spinoff, Graham and Somerhalder calls up Joseph Morgan (Klaus) who is now in a show of his own ("The Originals") but only receives a threat from the vengeful hybrid.
In the end, the pair resorts to begging their fans to keep them safe in the series. Showrunner Julie Plec, however, assures viewers that Bonnie and Damon will come back for the next season.
"You'll see enough of them to make you happy and more as it goes along. They are by no means going to be off the air for six episodes," Plec told E! News. "The mystery is where are they, what happened, are they dead, not dead, and what the hell are they going to do together, those two of all people?"
