Even before the highly anticipated movie featuring a new breed of Marvel superheroes hit theaters this week, Marvel has already announced a Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 for 2017.

Marvel revealed its plans for a follow up of the new superhero film, apparently because of very favorable reviews from critics who had seen the movie ahead of its August 1 release.

Guardians Of The Galaxy features a group of misfit heroes, including a raccoon, a tree-like creature, and a green-skinned woman.

The new movie stars Chris Pratt as human Peter Quill or Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as the green-skinned Gamora, and wrestler Dave Batista as Drax the Destroyer (who appropriately has superhuman strength as his power). Vin Diesel will be voicing the tree-like member of the group, Groot, while Bradley Cooper will voice Rocket the Raccoon.

The cast will be joined by Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Benecio del Toro, Karen Gillan and Glenn Close. The ultimate villain, Thanos, will be portrayed by Josh Brolin. He will also be joining Iron Man, Captain America, and The Hulk next year for "Avengers: Age Of Ultron."

James Gunn confirmed the "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2" release three years from now through Twitter. He wrote, "Yes, I'm writing and directing the sequel to #GuardiansoftheGalaxy for theaters July 28 2017. But first go see the first one out next week!"

"Guardians Of The Galaxy" has already earned 100 percent from critics at Rotten Tomatoes despite it only being released in UK theaters (so far).

Daily Mirror noted the movie to be "a chaotic sci-fi ride bursting with smart humour." It is also expected to rake in about $70 million in its weekend release.

The Verge notes "apparently Marvel thinks that fans are really going to love it," probably enough for a "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2" production. Based on critic reviews, the public might just do.
