NYC Spiderman Arrested For Punching Cop

A man dressed as Spiderman was arrested after repeatedly punching a cop in the face in New York City's Times Square over the weekend, according to E! News.

Spiderman, identified as 25-year-old Junior Bishop, was reportedly demanding between $5 and $20 from tourists who wanted to pose for pictures with him, according to the New York Post.

When the cop confronted him about the prices, the NYC Spiderman reportedly took off his mask and shouted, "F**k you! This is none of your business."

The cop told the man that he was under arrest when the fake Spiderman couldn't give him identification that was asked for. Bishop reportedly wiggled free from the cop's hold and punched him in the head, according to the NY Daily News.

"From what I saw, it was Spiderman's fault. He grabbed the cop, and then I saw him swing and hit him in the face. The cop had to go to the hospital. Nobody expected that," stated a witness, who did not want to be named.

Other officers in the popular tourist spot of NYC then grabbed Bishop, authorities stated. The injured cop suffered a swollen eye and a cut from the Spiderman's punch.

Junior Bishop is facing assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct charges for the recent incident.

Judge Ruth Pickholz set Bishop's bail at $3,500, which defense attorney Eric Schlosser said he couldn't afford.

"This incident is yet another reminder that many - though certainly not all - of these so-called friendly characters are actually violent and aggressive and have troubling criminal records. A rigorous licensing scheme would address this," Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance, told NBC 4 New York.
