Kendall Jenner On Modeling Career: Reality TV Starlet Opens Up About Not Being Taken Seriously At First, Reveals ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ Fame ‘Almost Worked Against Me’!

Being a member of a famous family - at least on reality television - has opened many doors for the Kardashian sisters, but there is one door that Kendall Jenner is determined to pry wide open by herself.

The young Kardashian sister has been open in the past about her love for fashion and her determination to become a high-fashion model.

"I was like, 'You know what? I want to be high fashion. I want to be taken seriously... People think that this just came to me. But it didn't," the 18-year-old said in an interview with LOVE magazine via The Cut.

However, the budding supermodel revealed that being in a camera-loving family didn't work well for her plans.

"What I have has almost worked against me," Jenner said. "I had to work even harder to get where I wanted because people didn't take me seriously as a model. Because of the TV show. I went on castings and some people weren't feeling me because of my name. But it was great when people didn't recognize me. I was like, 'Thank you. Please don't recognize me.'"

Since then, Jenner has graced the covers of many high-fashion magazines, not as a Kardashian, but as a model. She has also walked the runway for the likes of Chanel and Marc Jacobs, and was even included in a campaign for Balmain. Most recently, Jenner has been part of several fashion houses for the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Show in June.

There is no stopping for the teen model anytime soon. In fact, Jenner remains adamant that she will do things on her own.

"[Kim Kardashian] was invited to a lot of shows that I was in," the teen said. "She called me before and was like, 'Hey, I was invited to the show, I just wanted to let you know. Do you want me to come?' And I was like, 'No.'"
