Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has told his former team mate, Luis Suarez that he was "too good" to join Arsenal. Gerrald has relived that Suarez has not moved over to the Arsenal rather he is currently affiliated with the Barcelona. The Uruguayan went on to score 31 goals as Liverpool.

Gerrard talk top several newspapers saying "Last summer when he was out in the cold and training on his own that's the conversation I had with him. I said, 'Don't go to Arsenal.' With all due respect to them, I said to him that he was too good for Arsenal."

He added "If you score 30 goals for us and win the PFA Player of the Year, the press Player of the Year, they (Barca and Madrid) will come back for you. I just thought for his own sake, and to get respect off the Liverpool fans, he had to give us at least one year."

IT can be remembered that Suarez bit a player from the opposing team during their games in the FIFA world Cup, Uruguay vs. Italy. Suarez appealed to the FIFA committee on his four month suspension but it was denied. But Barcelona is not deterred with the situation. Instead they pursued Suarez to sign up a five year contract worth $130 million.

Gerrard understood why Suarez had to move over to join Barcelona saying ""Luis's dream, from the first day he came to us, was to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona."

He added "I said, 'If you score 30 goals for us and win the PFA (Professional Footballers' Association) Player of the Year and FWA (Football Writers' Association) Footballer of the Year (awards), they will come back for you.' "I thought for his own sake, and to get our fans' respect, he had to give us at least one more year."

The Liverpool captain described Suarez as one of the most talented player in their team. He said "You can't begrudge him his dream, leaving for Barca. But I'd have been disappointed if he had left for Arsenal"

On the other hand, the Spanish team accepts Suarez wholeheartedly saying "Luis Suarez is going to play a positive role in the years he will be at Barcelona. We accept humans with all their imperfections, all their mistakes and their capacity to learn from their errors."
