MLB Trade Reports: Jon Lester Signs up For Athletics, David Price Goes To Tigers, Best Or Worse Decision Ever?

Oakland Athletics are completing their best team ever when Jon Lester transferred to the team, but the Athletics lost a gem when Tiger Price left the team for the Detroit Tigers.

Derek Norris, the Atheltics' catcher said, talking about their successes in mid- June: "Most importantly, there's a lot of guys who know their roles."

"And everyone has a little piece of the pie: 'This is my role; this is my role.' And you go all the way around, and you have a complete pie," he finished.

Jon Lester via Twitter has said: "Thanks y'all cant tell you how much your support means to me and my family! Excited to contribute to a very talented @Athletics team! #NVRQT - Jon Lester (@JLester31) July 31, 2014"

The Athletics were cooking up the best team ever when Price decided to go to the Tigers. However, the Athletics coach said that he neither expected nor thought of the event.

"It doesn't surprise me because Dave Dombrowski, he knows how to make big deals," Billy Beane, Atheltics coach said, referring to the Tigers' smart manager. "He's been doing it for a long time. I heard some rumours last night, so I wasn't shocked at all."

Neither the Athletics nor the Tigers won a championship since the 1980s (that is 30 years ago!). The Athletics have not played in a World Series since 1990, and The Tigers have not advanced in 2006 and 2012. However, both the teams believe that they will make a great comeback this season.

The Athletics Coach Beane have said that he is not forgetting the past season. However, he joked about Price's limited contribution to the Tigers' team.

"They need a left-handed reliever out of the pen," he said, "so I'm sure David's going to help them in that role."
