Nobody hinted Dwyane Wade about LeBron James' move from Heat to Cavs, but it might be his 'friend- senses' gave him the idea. He was torn between playing side by side with his friend and supporting him.
Wade reportedly said this:
"I probably knew then, without him telling me at that moment," Wade told the South Florida Sun Sentinel last Friday at his basketball camp.
"You could tell where someone's heart is and what they're thinking. I kind of knew at that moment.
"I went to sleep knowing. He called me the next day. But I knew then. Obviously he still had to say the final yay or nay, but I knew. I could tell."
Wade flew from Vegas to Miami that night before the decision via private plane. He was not even informed about the news then, but it does not mean he did not thought of it.
The interview above was Wade's first time to talk since the NBA Finals' Game 5, where the Heat were thrashed by the Spurs, and ultimately eliminated from the tournament.
Chris Bosh, Josh McRoberts, Luol Deng and Danny Granger were some of the Heat's new players to compensate for LeBron's absence from the team.
Wade have said that he did not even sweet talked LeBron while he was in Las Vegas. He said that it was not because he wanted to beat LeBron as a Cavs player, or even getting back at him. He said he was thinking about his own health while on vacation.
"As his friend, I'm just supportive," Wade said.
"As crazy as that might sound, I'm supportive of my friend doing what makes them happy. Obviously same thing with him in this situation. You've gotta do what makes you happy - selfishly do what makes you happy. The decision to go back home was that."
