The basketball scrimmage of the US men's national team resulted to an unfortunate event after Indiana Pacers star player Paul George suffered from a serious leg injury earlier today.

George, who serves as the forward of Indiana Pacers, had to undergo a surgery to repair his broken leg. In its official twitter account, SportsCenter said George has to undergo the said surgery due to a compound fracture of his tibia and fibula. The tweet adds, "He is having surgery to get pin placed in his leg."

This has turned many basketball fans worried, regardless of the NBA team they are rooting for as observed in social media sites on Friday.

The star player's injury happened during the 4th quarter of the basketball scrimmage after he tried to block James Harden's lay up. His foot seemed to have caught by a basket stand, which eventually caused his leg to break.

George was immediately taken to the Hospital for Special Surgery. Right after the surgery, he managed to tweet to update everyone that he is fine despite what happened: "Thanks everyone for the love and support. I'll be ok and be back better than ever!!!"

Meanwhile, Larry Bird, president of basketball operations of Indiana Pacers has issued a statement about the incident: "We are aware of the injury sustained by Paul George...and we are obviously greatly concerned."

George, who is a two-time All Star, is one of the best players of Pacers. Many have expressed that this injury is certainly a major problem for the organization as it hopes for an NBA championship for this season.

There were mixed reactions on the incident, but most expressed concerned on the effect of his injury to the team.

As for press time, there are no confirmed reports on when the George can fully recover from the surgery.
