Season 7 "American Idol" finalist Michael Johns passed away on Friday due to a blood clot in his ankle, according to the publication Starpulse.
Johns had reportedly been suffering from pain in his leg several days before passing away.
"My mom took him into the emergency room. He had complained about his leg hurting him, he thought it might be a blood clot because it had bruised pretty badly and he never hurt his leg," close friend Torrey Gimbill stated.
Michael Johns' manager expressed his condolences to friends and family via Twitter, according to E! News.
"It is with a heavy heart and inconsolable sadness that we confirm the passing of our friend Michael Johns. No other details will b avail at this time. Please respect the privacy of Mike's family and friends as we know u will," wrote the singer's manager.
Johns finished eighth when he competed on "American Idol" back in 2008 along with David Cook and David Archuleta, according to the entertainment website.
"American Idol" contestants and famous fans expressed their condolences via Twitter on Saturday afternoon after the news of Michael Johns passing surfaced.
"Sad news for the idol family. . . one of our own @Michael_Johns passed away. A consistently kind guy with talent for days. We'll miss you," tweeted Ryan Seacrest.
"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Yolanda Foster wrote, "RIP our beautiful friend @michael_johns You will live in our hearts forever @Americanidol."
The passing of the "American Idol" finalist was reportedly very sudden.
"He was the most talented singer, loyal friend and genuine person you could meet. I miss him so much. It's crazy we were laughing together the day before," stated Gimbill.
