Russian Sergey Kovalev has successfully defended his WBO light-heavyweight title last Saturday night at the Revel Casino-Hotel.

Australian challenger Blake Caparello was defeated by Kovalev during the second round of the match. With his win, the champion was a better match stats having 25-0-1 with 13th straight knockout and 23rd overall. He will be moving into a unification fight against IBF/WBA light-heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins. This will be happening at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall or the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn in November.

According to Kovalev "I'm very happy. Fighting Bernard Hopkins is a big fight and interesting fight for me and for the boxing world. I'm not scared to fight him. He's called 'The Alien,' but I'm a 'Krusher' and I'll send him to Mars."

But it was not an easy win for Kovalev. He had struggled when Caparello landed a straight left that had him stumbling backward. His reporter, Main Events President Kathy Duva, was astounded over the mishap saying "My life flashed before my eyes."

But he quickly recovered and landed a straight blow to Caparello liver which had his opponent on his knees. He said "After the punch to the liver, I felt he was done. I finished the job。"

Bernard Hopkins who was watching from the ringside said "I'm hoping Kovalev gets a devastating knockout because that will mean a lot of people will be fearing for my life and I will have to be on point come November 8th. I want to be undisputed light-heavyweight champion of the world. That's what I've set out to do and that's what I'm going to do."

When Hopkins was asked about Kovalev he said "I see a champion like myself. I always ran to the fire, not away from the fire. That's who I am. That's my personality. I come from an era that's not the era of today. I just happen to be here. I get to show at this stage something that you could never imagine, Max or anybody that's listening -- that I can possibly pull off the undisputed, twice in one career, and be the champion at the light heavyweight division that won four major titles. I get to do it in 2014, November 8. Pay attention and don't get sick that night."
