Monaco Vice- President Vadim Vasilyev thinks that Radamel Falcao's Real Madrid transfer rumor is a big joke, as he says that their star attacker is staying with the club.
The Colombian player just returned into the field after having a knee injury. However, rumors about him leaving Monaco for Real Madrid has been sparking up lately. Maybe because of his Colombia team- mate, James Rodriguez's earlier transfer news to Real Madrid?
"We have met several times with Real Madrid representatives [during talks for James Rodriguez's transfer], but we never even spoke about Falcao," Vasilyev told L'Equipe.
"There has not been an offer and we are not in negotiations. The truth is that Falcao will play with Monaco again in 2014-15.
"Falcao looks happy. I think he's glad to be over the injury and be back with his team-mates.
"Sunday's performance against Arsenal confirmed Falcao's status as a great forward. He missed the World Cup through injury and that's always tough psychologically, but he has character and I hope this will be his season at Monaco."
Also, Falcao himself said that he is not even thinking about Real Madrid.
He said this in an earlier interview.
"I am not aware of any Real Madrid interest. I am not thinking about any other club than Monaco at the moment," Falcao was quoted as saying by AS.
"I have to continue to work hard for Monaco and play when and wherever the coach needs me."
The 28- year- old striker just joined Monaco from Atletico Madrid last year, and his contract with the Stade Louis will not be due until the June of 2018.
However, online blog posts have suggested that Real Madrid did not need James Rodriguez on their line up. They suggested that the La Liga team needed Radamel Falcao instead.
