Manziel out as starting Quarterback for Browns; fine for raising middle finger on Redskins

The quarterbrack drama of the Cleveland Browns has come to an end as Coach Mike Pettine and the rest of the Browns coaching staff have finally made a decision to choose Brian Hoyer over Johnny Manziel as the starting quarterback.

But how did Manziel take this news? Manziel was seen leaning on his orange helmet watching the game unfolds from the sideline as Browns starter Brian Hoyer worked with Cleveland's first-team offense during 11-on-11 drills last Thursday.

For now, Manziel will be the team's quarterback backup. According to Manziel "Obviously I didn't want this to be the outcome. But at the same time, I didn't necessarily feel I was ready, I felt like there were steps that I needed to take, and I need to take, to get better."

Coach Mike Pettine chose Hoyer over Manziel stating that Manziel didn't do well enough during training camp or the two preseason games. He said that Manziel didn't convince him and the coaching staff.

But according to Manziel, he was not surprised at all on the turnout of events saying "It's exactly what I thought it would be. I knew it would be a big step, a big learning process. If people would have seen me my first year at A&M they would've said no way this kid could get to where I'm at today. People don't understand that my first year-and-a-half at A&M I was terrible."

He added "I just continued to try and get better, learn the playbook, got more comfortable around everybody, around the coaches with the system, and then good things happened for me."

Manziel still has a lot to learn coming off as a rookie but the team also sees great potential in him. Wide receiver Nate Burleson said "Im a Johnny Football fan. Not only was I a fan before he got here, but now he's family because we play for the same team. I'll always be in his corner."

On the other hand, Manziel has been fined by the NFL committee for making an obscene gesture toward the Washington Redskins bench last Monday night. He is to pay $12,000 for his actions. The gesture went viral online after it was videoed and posted in the internet.
