The BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014 nominees were revealed this week, with rappers Drake and Jay-Z and singer Pharrell getting the top bids.
According to a report from Huffington Post, Drake leads the list of BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014 nominees with a total of eight bids. It is the first time for the "Young Money" rapper and singer to get the most nominations from the said award giving body.
One of the awards that Drake will be up for is Album Of The Year, which will pit him against Detroit rapper Eminem, Ciara's ex-boyfriend Future, Maybach's head honcho Rick Ross, plus rappers ScHoolboy Q and Yo Gotti.
Drake took home last year's People's Champ Award plus three other titles. The Canadian talent released his hit album "Nothing Was The Same" in 2013 with popular tracks "Hold On, We're Coming Home" and "Started From The Bottom".
Rap mogul and Beyonce's husband Jay-Z received six nominations. Receiving the same number of nominations as Jay-Z is producer and singer Pharrell, who will also be a first-time judge for season 7 of the hit singing competition "The Voice".
Other BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014 nominees reported by Complex include controversial "Anaconda" rapper Nicki Minaj, Rich Homie Wuan, and YG, who each received five BET nods.
Also among the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2014 nominees is Australian female rapper Iggy Azalea. The blond newcomer is up for Best Hip Hop Video for her hit track and Charli XCX collaboration "Fancy", which featured scenes from the hit 90s teen movie "Clueless".
Wiz Khalifa's "We Dem Boyz" is also nominated for Best Hip Hop Video. The rapper was recently in the news for finally revealing his marriage to Kayne West's former girlfriend, Amber Rose.
This year's BET Hip-Hop Awards will be held on September 20 at the Jones Atlanta Civic Center. It will be taped and aired on October 14, said Huffington Post.
The ceremony will be hosted by renowned rap superstar Snoop Dogg, who is also slated to perform.
