Sylvester Stallone's death hoax began circulating online and became viral in late August.
With the recent death of Robin Williams, Facebook and Twitter users were quick to believe the false news.
"Actor Sylvester Stallone died in a single vehicle crash between Ipswich and Willowbank in Queensland as confirmed by Royal Queensland Police - August 25, 2014," a fake Facebook page reported, according to Christian Post Today.
The fake new report even went into detail, saying, "The accident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +10). Sylvester Stallone is believed to have been in the area while on vacation. He was identified by photo ID found at the scene. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident."
The Hoax-Slayer debunked the supposed car accident, noting that the 68-year-old actor is alive and well.
"The message is a typical survey scam designed to trick you into sharing the scam post and providing your personal information on suspect online survey websites," the site said. "The image used in the scam post was stolen from a news article about a 2013 accident in Beatrice, Nebraska."
In fact, the action star had just been seen in Macau filming for the third instalment of 'The Expendables.'
Prior to the Sylvester Stallone death hoax, he also talked to Vulture about another movie sequel, this time for his iconic role as Rambo.
"I'm getting ready for that [Rambo V]," he told the publication. "I'm starting to work out. I'm going to be appropriately vicious and all that stuff, but intellectual. A killer with a heart."
Hackers have "killed" several other stars to lure gullible victims into filling up surveys or sharing potentially harmful links. According to Online Threat Alerts, Jackie Chan, Will Smith, Miley Cyrus, and Rihanna have all fallen prey to internet scams similar to Sylvester Stallone' death hoax.
