At last, we've got some more information coming in for the second season of HBO's critically acclaimed detective drama, True Detective. According to The Wrap, the latest True Detective season 2 news is about its director. Their report says that the show has tapped Justin Lin, who is responsible for helming three of the Fast and the Furious film franchise to be a director on the show. According to the website, Lin is in early negotiations to sit at the directorial chair for at least two episodes of True Detective.
These are big shoes to fill for any director, after all a highly successful season 1 run means very high expectations for the follow up season. And HBO's True Detective has everyone's hopes up after a brilliant first season with stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. The show was nominated for several Emmys, and won the coveted Best Director award for Swedish-Japanese director Cary Fukunaga (who became an Internet sensation by the way, because of his swoon-worthy looks).
All the episodes of the first season were directed by Fukunaga, but this time around, HBO is not using just one director to be in charge of all the episodes. And it seems that Justin Lin will be one of those directors.
As for the much awaited True Detective season 2 cast, there have no official confirmed actors to play the leads yet. Though so far, the most talked about name to replace the McConaughey-Harrelson tandem are Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn, with Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss to play the female lead.
Another point of high interest of course is the True Detective season 2 plot, and according to The Wrap, this time around, instead of a hunt for a serial killer, the show will focus on the mystery surrounding the death of a corrupt city manager in California. But in keeping with season 1, the investigation takes dark twists and turns.
