Many have been saying their thoughts about the ensuing case of domestic violence especially with the Ray Rice Case. Athletes from Floyd Mayweather to Paul George have raised their opinion on the matter.
Rice was arrested following February 15 where he struck his ex fiancée Janay Palmer in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The six year veteran has been accepted into a diversion program. When the program is completed, there is a possibility that Rice's charges will be obliterated.
Baltimore Ravens running back, Ray Rice, just had his contract terminated from the team and is currently serving an indefinite suspension from the NFL. This happened right after a video of him hitting his then fiancée was leaked to the internet.
That is why UFC President Dana White could not get away from answering the question raised by reporters regarding his opinion on the Ray Rice case.
White said "It's a tough one. First of all the video is horrifying. Absolutely horrifying. You're talking about a guy who's been in the fight business since he was 19 years old. It is the most disturbing thing you will ever see. The thing that's just as bad as the punch is that he shows no remorse after he does it. You know, if you did something in anger and you go, 'Oh my god. What did I do?' There's none of that with this guy. I don't know all the ins and outs of what Roger Goodell did or knew or how it was handled but it's definitely bad. I can tell you this: I wouldn't want to be Roger Goodell."
White was also asked for his reaction regarding Mayweather's comment on the issue. Mayweather who also served in 2012 for domestic violence said of the situation "When it's all said and done I wish something positive will come out of this situation. I'm not here to say anything negative about him. Things happen. You live and you learn. No one is perfect."
Adding "I think there's a lot worse things that go on in other people's households, also, It's just not caught on video. That's safe to say. I wish Ray Rice nothing but the best."
White answered "What do you say to that? I mean, what do you even say to that? It's asinine. I don't even know what to say to that."
