Korean audiences must be ready for a realistic love story, because "My Love, My Bride" opened in first place in the Korean box office.

Almost 90,000 moviegoers turned out to see the film on opening day, pushing the film into first place, ahead of "Dracula," "Whistle Blower" and "Annabelle,' which all premiered in the last month.

"My Love My Bride" stars Shin Min Ah and Jo Jung Suk as a couple that gets married but then discovers that happily ever after is not as easy as it looks. The film is a remake of "My Love My Bride," which was released 24 years ago. Both films focused on the problems newlyweds face and the choices they make.

In a recent interview with enewsworld, Shin Min Ah said she chose the project because of the script and the issues it raises. In the film she plays Mi Young, a ordinary woman who marries at age 35 and continues working. Married life is disappointing, especially when she finds that she has to keep nagging Young Min, her husband.

It is the first time Shin Min Ah has played a married woman. Both Shin Min Ah and her co-star Jo Jung Suk are single.

"The film deals with many things that married couples or working women can identify with," said Shin Min Ah. "Jung Suk oppa told me he received advice from his married friends but my close friends or unnies are all singles. I had no one to ask for advice. But I don't think the story that unfolds in the movie only applies to those who are married."

The actors grew close during the filming. To convincingly play a couple that dated for four years before marrying, they spent time together and talked a lot.

"It would've been a problem if we seemed awkward with each other," Shin Min Ah said. "So I tried harder to get close to him."

But although they did wind up looking like a convincing couple, she insists they will never date.

"I don't think I'll be dating Jung Suk oppa," she said.

When the actors appeared on the KBS show "Entertainment Weekly," they spoke about what it really might be like if they were newlyweds. Which one would do the chores?

"I think he has a clean personality, so he would probably help with cleaning, doing laundry, washing dishes, as well as cooking," said Shin Min Ah.

But his lack of culinary skills disappointed her.

"I can't cook very well," he said.

However he did say it would be fun being married to Shin Min Ah.

"I think every single day would be fun and enjoyable," he said. That means I would do the laundry, clean, and even learn how to cook."
