It's a good thing "The Night Watchmen's Journal" ends this week. At least it is for actor Jung Il Woo's safety. The actor recently received his second on-set injury since filming for the drama began.
His agency, Star K Entertainment, reported that on October 20 the actor had to visit the emergency room after a run-in with a crossbow.
"He injured the area around his eyes while filming last weekend," said the Star K representative.
It happened during a scene where he pulled a bowstring. When he pulled it, the bowstring broke off and slashed his face.
"He got a cut of about an inch and a half long next to his eyebrow," said the Star K representative. "He received emergency treatment right away so he could finish filming and went to the hospital for treatment after."
His agency says that the injury is not serious.
"He is attending the last filming session and will attend the after party on Oct. 21."
It's not his first injury on the set of the fusion fantasy drama about a prince who can see ghosts.
On Sept. 3 he was rehearsing an action scene and injured his ankle. Witnesses said that his ankle was swollen and he was limping. At that time he also received emergency treatment on set and continued filming through the night. He went to a nearby emergency room the next day and got an MRI scan. That injury was also not serious and he was only advised to rest.
The drama's representatives told TV Report that they were touched by the actor's sense of responsibility and his desire to hide his injury.
The public did not learn about that on-set injury until two weeks later. Jung Il Woo recovered completely and filming proceeded as scheduled.
Jung Il Woo also sustained an injury on the set of "49 Days." While playing the role of The Scheduler, he bruised his nose, causing it to swell up. He covered up the injury with makeup and continued filming. When he went to the hospital later, doctors told him that his nose was fractured.
And the actor has also been injured off the set. In 2006, he and his childhood friend actor Lee Min Ho were injured in a car accident.
The 24th and final episode of "The Night Watchmen's Journal" airs on the 21st. After the drama ends, Jung Il Woo will have a fan meeting titled Il Woo Together in November at the K Art Hall.
