Fans may best know An Sohee as singer in the group Wonder Girl, but she has always wanted to act. And now she will have another chance to demonstrate what she has learned in an upcoming tvN drama titled "Heart to Heart.
According to a representative from her agency, BH Entertainment. "It appears that Sohee will appear in "Heart to Heart." We are discussing the final details now."
Sohee will play the role of Go Sae, the sister of the drama's leading male character. "Heart to Heart" is a romantic comedy that deals with mental health issues and it is set inside a psychiatric hospital. Actress Choi Kang Hee was originally considering the role.
The transition to acting should come as no surprise to anyone who knows Sohee. Although she performed with JYP Entertainment's Wonder Girls from 2007 to 2013, she has taken a few acting roles. But she wanted to devote more time to acting. At the completion of her JYP contract she moved to BH Entertainment and decided to follow her original dream, using the name of An Sohee. "Heart to Heart" will be her first project since switching agencies.
Sohee has had a few acting roles so far, including the 2008 film "Hellcats." She also had a small part in the comedy "Here He Comes."
And she admits that she has a lot to learn yet. In an interview with Allure Korea she spoke about the difference between singing and acting.
"It's similar in that I have to express my feelings and convey them but the difference is the preparation process," she said. "When I'm singing, I have to perfectly solidify the process in my body whereas when I'm acting I have to act before a certain frame becomes solidified."
Before she appeared in the 2013 KBS drama special "Happy Rose Day," she wanted fans to know how serious she was about acting.
"I think it's important for me to work hard as an actress who′s just starting off," she said. "I think that's the respect I can show to all those who showed love and anticipation for my new venture. I want to focus on working this summer. I am working hard to greet the fans through a good project."
Her hard work on that drama paid off because she won praise for her performance as A Reum.
Her new drama, "Heart to Heart," will follow Misaeng," which currently airs on Fridays and Saturdays. Lee Yoon Jung will direct the drama. Lee Yoon Jung previously directed "Coffee Prince," "Triple" and "Golden Time."
