On tonight’s episode of season 12 of “NCIS,” McGee, played by Sean Murray, will reportedly be taking “a trip down memory lane” as he writes a letter to his father who he is preparing to visit for the holidays, according to TV Guide.

“McGee is kind of reflecting on the past and on the rules that Gibbs has tried to instill in the team over the years and questioning some of those rules and just thinking back,” Murray tells the media outlet.

He adds, “He’s going to spend the holiday with his dad, and that’s something that he doesn’t frequently do. They have a strained relationship. He’s sort of estranged from his father, and part of him writing that letter, I think, is him getting out a lot of stuff he can’t necessarily say.”

The holiday episode for season 12 of “NCIS” will reportedly be referring back to the season premiere as McGee takes on the lead role on a cyber terrorism case. The team will reportedly be recruiting villains that viewers of the crime show have seen in the past.

“It’s a really timely case,” show runner Gary Glasberg tells TV Line.

He adds, “And it brings back a number of characters.”

McGee will reportedly be attempting to solve the case in the week before Christmas.

Tonight’s episode of “NCIS” won’t be one to miss, especially for loyal viewers of the show.

“It’s an episode that really, I think, is kind of a reward to longtime fans,” Murray says.
