Bill Cosby Rape Allegations And 'Black Media Neutrality': Comedian Expects African-American Journalists Not To Chastise Him?

In the last few months, entertainer and comedian par excellence Bill Cosby has been accused of sexual assault and rape by more than 20 women. The accusations go as far back as two decades, and the public is still deciphering news analysis to figure out what's going on with the famed Dr. Huxtable star.
Both Bill and Camilla Cosby have kept quiet in the Bill Cosby rape allegations against him and have recently begun addressing some of the narratives of his past online. As some may have expected, there is no admission of the allegations or remorse of any kind from Mr. Cosby.

He may have caused more division in the black community after standing up as a black voice for African Americans in the country by saying this:

"Let me say this. I only expect the black media to uphold the standards of excellence in journalism and when you do that you have to go in with a neutral mind," he was quoted as saying by The Huffington Post.

Bob Butler, NABJ president, said, "all reports relating to the assault claims have been unbiased, and race is not a factor, TMZ reports."You don't go easier on a person [of] color. [It's] wrong for journalism period," he said. "This not a color issue, this is a journalism issue ... black people happen to be reporters."

"I believe reporters have to be neutral and have an open mind when covering a story like this, but being neutral doesn't mean telling one side of the story. Being neutral means telling both sides. And as far as I can see, reporters have been doing that," he said in the Huffington Post report.
