Actor Kim Woo Bin has been offered few roles since he co-starred in "The Heirs" with Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye. But that does not mean he thinks of himself as a real star.

"I don't know what being a celebrity or a star would even mean," he said in a recent interview with the Chosun Ilbo.

Well, it might mean being offered two film roles in the same year. In 2014 Kim Woo Bin took the role of a safecracker in "The Technicians," also known as "The Con Artists" and another role in the film "Twenty."

Released in Korea on Christmas Eve, "The Technicians did very well at the box office. It sold two million tickets, coming in second at the box office after "Ode To My Father."

In "The Technicians" Kim Woo Bin plays Ji Hyuk, one of a group of con artists who must steal $150 million from an Incheon customs office. Ji Hyuk has to crack safes because he has become accustomed to the finer things in life.

Kim Woo Bin read the script and thought it seemed like a fun heist film. And it also provided an opportunity to work with veteran actors such as Kim Yung Chul, Ko Chang Suk and Jung Man Sik.

"They were really helpful and considerate," he said

He would not describe himself as picky but he does like to try different kinds of roles because that is the way an actor grows. In the film "Twenty" he plays one of three 20-something friends. Among the three friends his character is the most girl crazy.

"I just don't want to be complacent," he said. "I want to make progress steadily, little by little with patience. If I continue to work this way, one day maybe I will be at the top."

He does not think of his fame as being secure. The popularity he now enjoys could vanish as quickly as it came.

"It could come overnight but go quickly," he said.
Although his fans might disagree with that idea, he tries not to take things for granted. He does not want to disappoint those that supported him.

He works hard at roles, preparing carefully before each project. No matter how small the role, he composes a list of questions about the character so he gets a real feel for how he might react.

"The Technicians" also stars Lee Hyun Woo and Jo Yoon Hee.

Have you seen the film? What did you think? Should Kim Woo Bin worry about his popularity fading?
