Richie Sambora had reportedly made the decision to leave Bon Jovi in 2013 after 30 years, following an ultimatum to tour with the band or leave, according to the website Ultimate Classic Rock.
As a Bon Jovi Tour is reportedly set in motion for 2015, there is speculation that the band will reunite with its long-time lead guitarist Richie Sambora.
Although sources close to Bon Jovi are keeping all details as private as possible, an insider reportedly indicated that the band is actually returning to the recording studio to work on tracks, according to the website YouthHealthMag.
“It’s still in the early stages. He’s got security on the doors to ensure no-one hears a whisper,” the source stated.
There are also reportedly rumors that instead of a Bon Jovi Tour in 2015 a worldwide tour may be happening instead by the end of 2016. The recent rumors regarding Bon Jovi’s possible reunion have surfaced after both Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora confirmed that they are on good terms with one another.
“There’s no bad blood with me any more,” Sambora told Lust For Life in 2014, reportedly adding that he still has love for his music partner.
He added, “I still see the possibility of a return. There are just a few steps I want to—need to— take.”
The departure of Sambora wasn’t just devastating for Bon Jovi fans and the guitarist’s fellow bandmates as he also had to deal with false rumors regarding why he left the band.
“It’s hurt me that more and more untrue things have come out in the media. I just wanted calmer waters, and just do something for myself. But the Bon Jovi machine was on,” explained Sambora.
He continued, “I said I wanted a break. We had just finished another tour. I saw a year of other priorities for me. I wanted to make my own music, and preferred doing a few shows with my own band. That was just not accepted.”
Despite being given the ultimatum to join or leave the band, Sambora still has plans to be a part of Bon Jovi, to the joy of fans all around.
“I’ve done a lot of wrong things in my life and I’ve regularly made bad decisions. But I think this step was the right one at last. We’re going to record an album; I’d like to do a tour after that. Not a tour of 14 months in more than 50 countries. Just a nice, tour playing music then being home for a while,” stated Sambora.
