A Pennsylvania college student, Karlie Hall, was reportedly found dead in her dorm room following an altercation with her 19-year-old boyfriend.
The boyfriend, Gregorio Orrostieta, was reportedly found with smeared blood on his face and a dry cut on his forehead while trying to administer CPR to his dead girlfriend following a 911 call around 5:20 a.m, authorities stated, according to the NY Daily News.
Orrostieta has reportedly been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, according to CBS Local. Karlie Hall’s autopsy reportedly shows signs that she had been severely beaten and strangled.
Orrostieta and Hall had reportedly been in a relationship on and off for 11 months.
“I knew that the relationship wasn’t that great,” 19-year-old Trisha Faust told the Associated Press.
Orrostieta reportedly stated that he shoved his girlfriend, causing her to fall and hit her head on a chair, then gave her a “back hand” to the face, according to court records.
Witnesses reportedly stated that a struggle came from Hall’s room at around 2 a.m., the same time authorities believe Hall was killed. The couple reportedly got into an argument late Saturday night at a party, stated Orrostieta.
“He’s responsible and we’re going to hold him accountable,” Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman said of Orrostieta at a press conference to announce the new charge following him ordered held on $1.5 million bail.
Hall was reportedly a finance major who often spent her time going to the gym or feeding ducks at a campus pond, according to friends of the 18-year-old.
The death of the Pennsylvania student has reportedly left the students of the college rattled.
“We’ve never had this happen. We’re a pretty bucolic, rural campus. Very safe,” the university’s communication director, Janet Kacskos, stated.
