*Warning* is a long review. I also want to say that I left a lot of details out, that you could only know about, by watching the drama.
“I Miss You” have been a wild ride of emotions. What Han Jung Woo, Lee Soo Yeon and Harry/Kang Hyung Joon went through was dramatizing and plain horrible. This drama was mostly tears, pain and agony. It had us viewers going from tears to laughter in matter of minutes. I was relieved to know that after all these tangled events, where almost everybody was affected by it, we ended up having a happy ending, that at one point, I couldn’t even see.
“I Miss You” started by introducing a shy-looking girl Lee Soo Yeon (Kim So Hyun), her family situation is at its worst. Her father is labeled as a murderer and her mom is hopeless. They are physically and mentally abused by the father. Her father is arrested but the torture won't end there. She is endlessly teased at school and she has no friends. She and her mom are also teased by the neighbors and all Lee Soo Yeon can do, is apologize for something she has no fault in.
Then we are introduced to Han Jung Woo (Yoo Jin Goo) a well-off (handsome), kind 15 year-old, who is happy to hear that his father has come to America to look for him, only to find it was actually his dad's secretary. He then sneaks into Korea, but his dad, a cold man full of greed, who cares only about money, orders him to go back to America, but Han Jung Woo refuses and starts school in Korea. At this point we all know that his dad, Han Tae Joon will be the main villains of the drama.
Han Tae Joon (Han Jung Woo's dad) concerned about money his father had hidden, threatens his step-mom (Kang Hyung Joon/Harry's mom) with Harry's life and actually threw mad dogs at Harry, but Harry safely escapes (with an injured leg). As we are introduced to the root of the tragedy about to happen. (FYI Han Jung Woo and Kang Hyung Joon are nephew and uncle.)
One night Han Jung Woo could not sleep and goes to his neighborhood’s park where he sees a girl in a swing and our two main characters met. This park will become so symbolic and where they had so many touching moments there.
The fist two episodes of the drama shows Lee Soo Yeon and Han Jung Woo's relationship, and how it was built. It introduces the yellow umbrella, their saying “I’m not crying because I’m sad. It’s because of the wind that is blowing.” and the hand movement they do to “erase all bad memories.”
On the third episode the unthinkable happens, the tragedy that marked them and a few other people for life. Han Jung Woo got kidnapped by orders of Harry's mother and Lee Soo Yeon, in other to save him, gets kidnapped with him. She then is beaten and raped, while Han Jung Woo saw such horrendous act, but could not do anything about it, as we was completely tied. Han Jung Woo unties himself and escapes, leaving Lee Soo Yeon behind, to find help. He called his father and asked him to rescue Lee Soo Yeon but his father decides not to rescue her, and tells Han Jung Woo that she is dead because the place where they we kidnapped, caught on fire.
Han Jung Woo is destroyed by this news and could not believe that Lee Soo Yeon is dead. After he finally was able to leave his father's house, he runs to Lee Soo Yeon house, where her mom, Detective Kim (A detective who took Lee Soo Yeon and his mom under his roof and will become Han Jung Woo's role model) and Detective Kim's daughter were waiting for him to tell them where she was. Sadly Han Jung Woo had no information.
Detective Kim does everything in his power to find Lee Soo Yeon, and when was about to find her, he dies in a car accident chasing the car where Lee Soo Yeon was.
On the other hand, Lee Soo Yeon was able to escape, and while at it, she rescued by Harry and nurse Jung, who had help Harry and his mom escape from Han Jung Woo's dad. Harry instead of helping Lee Soo Yeon go back to her family, manipulated her by telling her that Han Jung Woo abandoned her. Lee Soo Yeon, Harry, Nurse Jung escape. (To France, as it was later revealed)
Fourteen years later, Han Jung Woo (now played by Park Yoo Chun) has become a detective, and is known as the “Crazy Rabbit” for his way of capturing criminals. Despite his dramatic past, he is a cheerful, and fun person. He is now living with Lee Soo Yeon's mother and detective Kim's daughter, and the three of them formed a family. Han Jung Woo's relationship with Lee Soo Yeon's mother is one the joys of this drama. The way he cares and loves his “girlfriend” was one of those refreshing moments the drama needed.
Han Jung Woo never forgot Lee Soo Yeon and knows in the button of his heart that she is not dead. For the past 14 years, he has tried to find Lee Soo Yeon. Everyone that knows about him, also knows about Lee Soo Yeon, that is the other reason they call him crazy.
Harry (Yoo Seung Ho) and Lee Soo Yeon, who is now Zoey/Joy (Yoon Eun Hye) appear in Jeju Island, where they are hosting a fashion show because Zoey has become a fashion designer. They have been living in France all this time. Their relationship is very strong, as they are extremely attached to each other. They love each other a lot and Harry is completely devoted to Zoey. He will do anything Zoey wanted.
After the show is over, Harry has to go back to Seoul, because Nurse Jung is dead. The case is being handled by detective Han Jung Woo, and so him and Harry meet. Zoey follows Harry to Seoul and that is where Han Jung Woo and Zoey meet for the first time in 14 years. Of course they did not recognize each other, but Han Jung Woo did feel something when he saw her. Zoey had become cold towards the people in her past, as she has decided to erase all of her memories from 14 years ago.
As the the drama progresses, Lee Soo Yeon's rapist is set free, but he is killed right away. Of course everyone thinks is Han Jung Woo but he is found innocent. Han Jung Woo and Zoey start to get close, at first Zoey decided to play with Han Jung Woo, to have her revenge on him, but what Zoey didn’t know was the strength of Han Jung Woo's love and in my opinion, she was taking aback and fall for him all over again.
