On April 20, SM Entertainment confirmed the relationship between Yuri (Kwon Yuri) of Girls' Generation and professional baseball player, Oh Seung Hwan. Oh Seung Hwan is a player for the Japanese team, Hanshin Tigers.
Speculation regarding the couple surfaced when Yuri remained in Japan, five days beyond the other members of Girls' Generation. Netizens took interest in the situation when Yuri did not return with the group on March 6. She remained in Japan, citing obligations within her personal schedule, before returning to Korea on March 11. Oh was present in Japan, during the time of her visit, as part of his work schedule.
SM Entertainment officially confirmed the couple, while providing warm wishes for the pair. According to enews, a representative for the major K-pop company said, "Yuri and Oh Seung Hwan met at at a gathering with acquaintances at the end of 2014."
Yuri has appeared in several Korean dramas, in addition to her activities with Girls' Generation. She appeared in a supporting role in the 2007 series, "Unstoppable Marriage," before leading the 2012 SBS drama "Fashion King." In 2013, she experienced her first major firm role in "No Breathing," opposite Seo In Guk and Lee Jong Suk.
Yuri is the fifth member of the group to date publically. Yoona was the first star from the group to officially announce a relationship. In December 2013, Yoona and Lee Seung Gi were revealed as a couple. Sooyoung and Jung Kyung Ho were the next pair to go public, when their relationship was confirmed in January 2014. In April 2014, ne of the biggest announcement to rock K-pop came when SM Entertainment substantiated rumors that Tiffany was dating 2PM's Nichkhun. Dating news regarding Tiffany and Nichkhun was topped by the confirmation of the relationship between Taeyeon and EXO's Baekhyun.
Sunny, Hyoyeon and Seohyun are the only members of the group who are not in a public relationship.
