Movie “Miracle in Cell #7” keeps its steady path to become one of the best Korean movies in history.
The movie reached the 12 million mark on March 9th, recoding 12,056,432. By the end of the weekend of March 8th- March 10th, according to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) the movie recorded 121,186 ticket sales, for a the grand total of 12,177,618.
“Miracle in Cell #7” is now the highest grossing comedy in South Korea.
The movie is closely tailing "The King and the Clown" (12.3 million), and if the sales keep going the way it is are, it will soon surpass "Masquerade.”
It's a big possibility that the movie can surpass, the highest grossing movie in Korea, which was “Avatar” with 13.3 million of sold tickets.
The movie directed by Lee Hwan Kyung, and starring Ryoo Seung Ryong, Park Shin Hye, and child actress Kal So Won, is about a mental incapable father who is sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. His ultimate dream is to see his daughter, but the prison he is being held at has a 'no visitor' rule, there his cell mates come up with a plan to sneak his daughter in.
