Lee Si Young does not play the bride in "My Beautiful Bride." And that's a good thing. Although all the action in the OCN drama revolves around the disappearance of a beautiful bride, Lee's role is one that is more prominent and definitely features more action sequences.
That's good because it means the actress will be able to show off all her athletic abilities. Lee, who is a champion-level amateur boxer, is fit and more than capable of breathing life into action sequences. Lee will play the tough-talking detective Cha Yoon Mi.
Go Sung Hee, who played Kim Jae Joong's North Korean girlfriend in "Spy," plays the Yoon Joo Young, the beautiful bride who suddenly disappears. Kim Moo Yul, who appeared in "Iljimae" and both seasons of "Chosun Police," plays Kim Do Hyung, the groom who is left behind.
No one seems to know what happened to the missing bride. Did she bride get cold feet? Or was she the victim of a crime? And if so, why?
Groom Kim Do Hyung is so upset by his bride's disappearance that he stops thinking rationally. He becomes obsessed with finding her whatever it takes and no matter how many laws he breaks. Lee Si Young's detective character wants to help him find his missing bride. But she is a law officer first so she cannot condone all of his sometimes unethical and illegal methods. She will not only have to save Kim Do Hyun from others but she will have to save him from himself.
The plot is perfect for lots of thrilling action scenes.
Lee Si Young's last role was playing the house painter heroine married to Uhm Tae Woong in the cable drama "Valid Love." She debuted as Geum Jan Di's false best friend in "Boys Over Flowers" and has appeared in several dramas, including "Golden Cross" and "Wild Romance," as well as a few films, such as "The Divine Move" and "Killer Toon."
Park Hae Joon plays a fellow officer who has feelings for Detective Cha. Ryu Seung Soo is the drama's villain. He works for a criminal organization that has something to do with the disappearance of the bride.
Kim Cheol Kyu, who directed "Emergency Couple," will direct "My Beautiful Bride." Yoo Sung Yeol, who wrote Cruel City," is the screenwriter.
"My Beautiful Bride" will follow "Missing Noir M" on Saturdays and Sundays beginning June 20.
