The premiere date for "Empire" season 2 has been revealed as Taraji Henson took the red carpet as she won Critic's Choice Awards for her portrayal of Cookie Lyon.
According to TVLine, the premiere date for season 2 of "Empire" will be on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
"Series star Taraji P. Henson first spilled the cookies beans via Twitter; the EmpireWriters handle confirmed the news," it said. "Comedian Chris Rock, R&B superstar Alicia Keys and rock god Lenny Kravitz have all signed on for guest-starring roles during Season 2."
Also, the episodes for "Empire" season 2 will be expanded from 12 to 18, which will be nine episodes each in between the winter break.
Meanwhile, Taraji P. Henson was every inch a winner as she channeled the fierce Cookie Lyon on the red carpet in a black dress adorned with silver beads across the straps.
"The Oscar nominated star looked stunning in cut-out black dress with cut-out and velvet detailing," said Daily Mail. "Taraji showed off her toned arms in the sleeveless design that was adorned with silver beads along the neckline and bodice hemline."
In her speech, Taraji Henson said, "Thank you Fox you're bold, you took a shot, you take a risk.
"Some people say I'm new to the game, that means I could be 20 again... This means I'm touching lives, that's why i got into acting."
"We created such an incredible family on 'Empire', there's no Cookie without Lucious. I fought for you, you owe me five percent of your money."
She also joked of Cookie Lyons, "I just have to play the truth hopefully they love her for beating her son with a broom."
