On June 3, the Chinese network Letv released character stills and the first promotional trailer for the upcoming period drama, "Braveness of the Ming." "Braveness of the Ming" is a fantasy time jump drama, which is based on a popular series of Chinese novels. The storyline is reminiscent of Korean time slip dramas like "Queen In Hyun's Man." Chinese actor Zhang Han (Jang Han) portrays Xia Xun, an actor who travels through time to the Ming Dynasty. In the past, Xia Xun was a poor man who was thrust into leading the life of a deceased merchant. Park Min Young stars as Xie Yu Fei, the future wife of Xia Xun.
Park is radiant in the Chinese period costumes that are used throughout the drama. She replaces Miss A's Suzy, who was previously announced as a cast member, in the series.
Her co-star, Zhang Han, has previously worked with Korean actors including Song Joong Ki. Zhang starred opposite the Song in the 2010 film, "Hearty Paws 2." He also has a six-degrees connection to Park Min Young through her former boyfriend, Lee Min Ho. Zhang portrayed the leading man in "Meteor Shower," the mainland Chinese drama adaptations of "Hana Yori Dango." The series was an unlicensed adaptation of the Japanese story, which served as the basis for the Hallyu hit, "Boys Over Flowers."
Park Min Young is best known for her roles in the hit KBS period comedy, "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and in the 2011 action series, "City Hunter." She recently gained positive attention for her portrayal of Chae Young Shin in the romantic action drama, "Healer." "Healer" was well received by Chinese audiences, leading to the overwhelming popularity of the 29-year-old actress and her co-star, Ji Chang Wook.
