Considering the 11 years of experience actress Han Ga In has since her debut, she does not have a long filmography she worked on. It is because she took a 3-year-long break after her last project in 2007. One thing that hurt the acting career of an actress who was once called the Korean Olivia Hussey was the project she chose to work on. Of course, she deserves some of the blame but the character she played in the drama "Witch Yoo Hee" seems to have played a critical role in her 3-year-long break.
The problem did not stop there. After the drama ended, people were furious when they found out Han Ga In's entertainment company released an article stating that the reason for the low rating for "Witch Yoo Hee" was all because of the writer's incompetence to write a decent story as well as the insufficient production crew. Even though everybody were aware of the drama's problems, seeing Han Gas In's entertainment company directing all the blame on the writer and the production crew seemed very appalling.
Last year, Han Ga In revealed that she was unaware of the article regarding "Witch Yoo Hee" and that she had not intended to release any type of statement like that. Han Ga In also mentioned that she suffered from the article since she couldn't leave the house from feeling like the whole world was blaming her.
Recently, the statement Kwon Sang Woo left on his official fan cafe caused a stir that resembled Han Ga In's situation.
Kwon Sang Woo is currently playing the role of Ha Ryoo in the SBS drama "Yawang". Regarding his role, Kwon Sang Woo posted, "I feel like Ha Ryoo has really become the character Ha Ryoo. Even acting... hm... getting stressed by a lot of things. I just hope the script comes out good" and shocked his fans. This statement made the news soon after, stating that it is inappropriate for the writer and the production crew. However, many viewers of "Yawang" expressed that they completely understand where Kwon Sang Woo is coming from.
In the drama "Yawang", Ha Ryoo is a character whose life revolves around revenge on his ex-wife. He is constantly chasing Joo Da Hae (Soo Ae) who leaves him after sucking up all of his energy and possessions. Anybody could understand his state of anger when you consider everything Ha Ryoo has sacrificed for her.
Ha Ryoo gives up on everything just to save their relationship but it is not enough for Joo Da Hae. She leaves everything behind and even kills her daughter in order to achieve her dreams of becoming the first lady. When Ha Ryoo tries to get in her way, she kills his older twin brother, the day of his release from prison after being sentenced for helping Joo Da Hae hide her stepfather's body, after she killed him.
The mystery behind this drama is that there is so much anger but not sadness. So far, 18 episodes have aired but there is no particular character who the viewers are rooting for or anyone who viewers wish failure on. People are frustrated by Joo Da Hae who goes unpunished for all of her crimes and even find themselves hating Soo Ae appearing in the commercials in between the drama.
Soo Ae however, seems to have a distinct role in the drama while Kwon Sang Woo's role is becoming more and more unclear to the point where he doesn't even seem like a main character anymore. It has come to the point where the role is affecting the way critiques are viewing him as an actor. Even though Kwon Sang Woo has been providing a great act during the drama, the role is negatively affecting his acting career.
Kwon Sang Woo has always been famous for his beautiful crying scenes. For a respected actor like this, his role in the drama "Yawang" seems to be the result of very bad luck. His role seems to be unable to bring out his capabilities as an actor, which is very discouraging.
It has also been reported that the cast and crew are working under a very tight schedule, constantly chased by the time and that the actors in the drama are under an unimaginable amount of stress.
Therefore, a significant amount of people understand why Kwon Sang Woo made the complaint. Regardless, Korea is a nation where people frown on blaming others. This is why Kwon Sang Woo's entertainment company released an official statement explaining that he did not mean to complain about the drama or his role in the drama. They explained that Kwon Sang Woo's statement was regarding his tough schedule that is exhausting him.
