On June 18, Kim Woo Bin was the recipient of the Korea's Shining Star honor at the Korean Film Awards. The 25-year-old actor was honored with this popularity award for his portrayal of Chi Ho in the coming-of-age film, 2015 "Twenty."
According to a report published by Korea Daily, he was grateful to receive the honor, particularly within the presence of seasoned actors. "[I am] really thankful to receive the honors," said Kim. "To be in this position with good seniors and recognized as a good actor. I am thankful."
Kim is a model-turned-actor who debuted in the 2011 drama "White Christmas." His popularity dramatically increased in 2013, following his role in "School 2013," opposite Lee Jong Suk. Kim then experienced explosive fame due to his portrayal of Choi Young Do in "The Heirs." He is distinguished from his contemporaries due to his seamless work within film and television.
K-pop solo vocalist and actor Lee Seung Gi was recognized for his breakout film role in "Love Forecast." He appeared opposite Moon Chae Won in the movie, which draws correlations between the fickleness of weather and relationships.
Star News captured his joyous sentiments in their coverage of the event. "This is my first film and the first time I have won an award, an actor," said Lee. "Like my seniors, who are great actors, I plan to do a lot of great work, in the future."
Lee recently delivered a cameo appearance on the hit docu-drama, "Producer." He is currently promoting his sixth solo album titled, "And."
Other notable honorees include seasoned actor Son Hyun Joo, who was the recipient of the Top Star Award for his role in the psychological thriller, "The Chronicles of Evil."
