"Nashville" season 4 spoilers revealed that the coming episodes will deal with Will (Chris Carmack) and Kevin's (Kyle Dean Massey) relationship. Now that Will has publicly declared his love for Kevin in season 3, viewers of the ABC series are excited to find out what will happen next.

In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Dee Johnson shared that it takes a lot of courage on Will's part to come out of the closet. She shared that the writers have taken their time in crafting the right moment until Will becomes confident of his sexuality.

"I, personally, was so invested in making sure that story got told in what felt more like real time to me," Johnson said.

"We took him on a journey. We wanted to see every step - the first encounter, the first admission that he actually is what he is, getting him to a place where he is finally comfortable enough to come out - and then finally being in love with somebody for the first time in his life,

That was our plan."

Will's admission would definitely have an impact on his career, however, Johnson shared that was more important was for him to finally be able to be true to himself.

"Coming out publicly is going to have a huge impact on his career. But beyond coming out publicly was the next big thing in any person's life, which was finally being allowed to feel love for somebody.

Although "Nashville" fans have shown great support for Will and Kevin's relationship, Johnson remained tight-lipped as to whether Kyle Dean Massey will be promoted to a regular cast member come season 4.

"Who knows, in terms of regulars or not? But I do think he did a really great job. They really clicked together. He's definitely in my mind certainly going to be a presence," she told TV Line.
