It has been two years since actress Hong Soo Hyun appeared in a drama and that may be the longest break she has taken since she first appeared on the small screen in 1999. She was only 18 when she had her first role in the SBS drama KAIST.

Now the 34-year-old actress is planning a comeback with an MBC drama titled "Mom, You Should Get Married."

The actress began her career as a 16-year-old model and has appeared in 30 dramas since then, mostly in supporting roles. Some of her best-known roles were in "The Princess' Man" and "History of a Salaryman." Her last role was in "Jang Ok Jung." In that drama she played Queen Inhyun, the woman standing between Kim Tae Hee's character Jang Ok Jung and the king she loved.

Hong Soo Hyun was seen on television in 2014, appearing as a regular on the reality show "Roommate." She shared a room with After School's Nana and listened to the young singer's concerns.

But Hong was eager to return to K-dramaland.

On July 13, a representative of her agency, Key East Entertainment spoke to the Korean media outlet Joongang Daily about the actress' possible comeback.

"Hong is at the final stage of negotiation on whether to star in the project," said the KeyEast representative.

The agency did not disclose much information about the drama's plot. They did not say whether Hong's character is the mom that should get married or the daughter of the mom that should marry.

"The actress has been offered a character named Lee Se Ryung, who is portrayed as an employee of a clothing company located in the outskirts of Gangnam District, southern Seoul. Due to her mother's influence, money is the most important thing in the world to her. However, she one day falls in love with a man who has a different perspective from her."

Falling for someone from a different social class may put her character at odds with her mother and also put her at risk of losing her legacy.

"Mom You Should Get Married" will follow "Make a Woman Cry" in September.
