The Emma Watson Mathew Janney split was a tough one for the Harry Potter-actress to overcome. She described her break up with her former boyfriend, rugby star Matt Janney as "horrendous." Emma said that the she was very uncomfortable with being single after her split with Janney in December 2014. She was decided to stay "silent" about it, reported People.
Currently, Watson UN's Goodwill Ambassador for Women. Her transition from heartbreak to empowerment was an enduring feat and she credits it to a "retreat" in Canada, near the Rocky Mountains. She didn't speak for a week during her retreat at the facility in order to do more soul-searching.
According to Vogue U.K, she said, "I felt really uncomfortable. Even before my relationship ended, I went on a silent retreat, because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself."
The Emma Watson Mathew Janney split, however, did not affect her dating experience badly. The actress said that overall she has had good dating experiences with men who make her feel cherished. "I certainly haven't found that with doing all that I do or being all that I am, that I've struggled in my love life," the actress told Vogue.
In spite of her busy schedule, Emma Watson enjoys her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women. When she took on the role she said, "Everything clicked in to place, in a way that it hadn't before. I understood what I'm here to do and knew where to channel all this energy that has been coming at me. I now feel this sense of peace. People say that I'm different since I did it."
Since the time she took up the role, Emma Watson was identified as one of the activists who stood up for the rights of women worldwide. Her gender equality speech at the UN last year was used to push the "He for She" campaign to improve conditions of women everywhere.
