It has been almost a year since EXO's D.O. played Jo In Sung's delusional alter ego in the drama "It's Okay That's Love." But according to D.O., whose real name is Do Kyung Soo, the actors and former co-stars have remained friends.
An interview reported in the Japanese media and summarized in the Korean outlet OSEN, quoted him as saying that the two still occasionally hang out together.
They were not immediately friends. At first D.O was intimidated by the senior actor.
"I was scared by him at first but he treated me like a little brother," said D.O. "I learned how to be sincere about acting. He gave me advice on how to express various feelings. I don't usually talk about myself to the people around me but I could talk to him about anything as long as I was on the set. I got along with Lee Kwang Soo too and we talk about acting."
D.O. won praise for his portrayal of the character Han Kang Woo, but that does not mean it was easy to portray him.
"It was hard to understand the script at first but Writer Noh Hee Kyung helped me figure out the meaning of the lines and emotions. Producer Kim Gyu Tae also gave me lots of advice. Making the drama was such a happy time for me."
While everyone was helpful, according to D.O., Jo In Sung helped set the mood on set.
"Everyone on the staff was nice but Jo In Sung knew how to clear things up so that everything fell into place. He brightened up the place and made everyone feel good."
It's not surprising that Jo In Sung was friendly or that his on-set activities led to a friendship that continued after the drama was over.
Jo In Sung is close to actors Lee Kwang Soo and actor Song Joong Ki. When Song Joong Ki recently finished his two-year mandatory military duty, the three friends even vacationed together. Song Joong Ki and Lee Kwang Soo met on the variety show "Running Man" and the drama "Nice Guy." Lee Kwang Soo and Jo In Sung did a commercial together before appearing on the drama "It's Okay, That's Love." Song Joong Ki and Jo In Sung met while filming "A Frozen Flower," which also starred Song Hye Kyo and Joo Jin Mo.
D.O. recently appeared in the drama "I Remember You" and the film "Cart."
