The Cupertinon, Cal.-headquartered tech-company, Apple Inc, announced that it has updated its entire iMac series. The new Apple iMac update from the company states that the new iMacs will have fresh processors and graphics cards inside.
Henceforth, all the 27-inch models have a 5K screen and the 21.5-inch version now has an optional 4K panel, said Engadget. Apple has also dropped the non-Retina 27 inch iMacs. The new 4K and 5K displays will flaunt wider color options but on the display side, the difference will be very subtle for an average user. However, the all new desktop computers with Apple iMac update will feature two Thunderbolt 2 ports and up to 2TB of Fusion Drive storage for stock configurations. The 4K 21.5-inch iMac has a 3.1GHz Core i7 Broadwell processor and integrated Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200, while the 5K 27-inch iMacs have 3.2GHz to 3.3GHz Core i5 and i7 Skylake processors and dedicated AMD Radeon R9 GPUs, said Macrumors.com.
There is distinction between fifth and sixth-generation processor architecture meaning only the 27 inch iMacs feature the latest Skylake Intel chips, said 9to5Mac.
The iMac has also been updated with three stream 802.11ac Wi-Fi, supporting up to 1.3Gbps wireless networking. The default Retina configuration features a 3.1-gigahertz Intel Core i5 quad-core processor, a 1-terabyte hard drive, said Apple Insider.
Apart from launching boosted graphics card iMac lineup, Apple also introduced new Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic mouse 2 or Magic Trackpad.
"The Magic devices have been redesigned to feel more comfortable than ever, and feature rechargeable batteries that completely eliminate the need for disposable batteries. The new Magic Trackpad 2 also brings Apple's revolutionary Force Touch interface to the desktop, adding a new dimension to the iMac experience," said Apple's official press release.
