Filming Love Scenes Can Be A Lof Of Work

Love scenes in kdramas and kmovies may be fun to watch but that doesn't mean they are easy to film.

MBLAQ's Lee Joon was recently quoted as saying that it took him an entire day to film a bed scene in "An Actor Is An Actor," which will hit theaters on Oct. 24.

"One day I spent 24 hours filming a scene in bed," he said at the film's press conference. He had to undress but because there were female members of the production crew there, it was a little embarrassing.

"Idols don't normally film such scenes so whenever the director yelled 'cut' I covered myself up."

All that heavy breathing can also be exhausting.

"At the end of the day, I was lightheaded," said Lee.

Even a simple fully clothed kiss scene can take a long time to film. Earlier this year, Taecyeon admitted that his "Dream High" kiss scene with Suzy took eight hours to film.

"When I filmed that scene with Suzy, it was my first kiss scene so I worried how I should go about it," said Taecyeon in a "Taxi" interview. "We ended up filming that kiss scene for close to eight hours."

Since the scene was filmed in a ferris wheel, the camera crew had to shoot it from several angles and although it was shot from far away, Taecyeon and Suzy had to keep kissing.

"You can hardly see us," added Taecyeon, "but we still kept kissing anyway."

Son Ye Jin, who was lucky enough to co-star in Lee Min Ho's first bed scene in "Personal Taste," has joked she enjoys kissing scenes and she has filmed them with some pretty impressive co-stars.

She said that she was disappointed when she only had to film her "Shark" kissing scene with Ha Suk Jin once. The couple had so much natural chemistry that the scene received an okay from the director after their first try. When she expressed her disappointment, everyone on set laughed.

Not all kiss scenes happen without previous discussion. While a scene may look very romantic, it doesn't mean the stars have not blocked it out beforehand.

Joo Won has said he discussed his kissing scenes with Choi Kang Hee before they kissed on "Level 7 Civil Servant" asking her exactly what he ought to do. She told him to improvise.

And some stars are strict about what they will or won't do in a kiss scene. When the kissing scene at the end of "I Hear Your Voice" was about to happen, Lee Bo Young told Lee Jong Suk that he was not allowed to smoke for hours before he kissed her. She was not sure she could kiss him with the enthusiasm fans deserved if he tasted of nicotine. He agreed and the result was kdrama magic.

Even if it's serious work to film these romantic scenes, fans are grateful for the effort.
