Microsoft Corporation Is Expected To Get 18 Percent Of The Tablet Market By 2019; Firm Has Edge With Windows 10

The PC market is declining, but Microsoft Corporation is expected to gain more market share with its two-in-one convertibles and tablets, thanks to its Windows 10 platform. The Redmond-based OEM has been offering Surface Pro and other devices in the PC and tablet category and has seen a steady increase of its market share since this year.

The Windows software owner should claim about 10 percent of the worldwide market share this holiday season. That is equivalent to about 22 million devices.

Strategic Analysis said Microsoft has an edge with its platform being on the most servers and PCs within the enterprise, which market is increasingly open to deployment to tablets, reported Microsoft News.

According to Mobile Syrup, Microsoft Corporation, Windows 10 OS, and its hardware partners are well-positioned that its tablet devices could take a significant share of the market in the future, away from rivals like Android.

Many tablets not manufactured by Microsoft Corporation running Windows 10 devices are starting to surface, like the Lenovo Miix 700 and Asus T100. Their shipments increased by 58 percent in this year's first nine months.

The momentum is expected to go on this holiday season. Strategy Analytics predicts that by the end of the decade, one-fifth of the global tablet market will belong to Microsoft, a growth that will be an expense of Android.

The firm's Research Director Peter King of the tablet and touchscreen strategies service stated "As the enterprise market becomes increasingly open to the wide scale deployment of Tablet platforms, Microsoft has a key advantage in that its operating systems are found on the vast majority of PC and servers within the enterprise, potentially providing a smoother integration of Tablets using the Windows OS into the enterprise."

He continued that major tablet makers will be offering premium Windows devices to address the need of enterprise and "prosumers" served by the Surface Pro devices.

Furthermore, Apple Inc. has not successfully up its tablet market share with its iPad lineup. Hence, it is giving Microsoft Corporation, Windows 10 and tablet devices running the OS a victory as well, said Forbes.
