Goo Hye Sun continues making a name for herself behind the camera through her short film "Dark Yellow."
The upcoming movie made it at the 24th Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA) and was selected as one of the competitors.
Goo Hye Sun's 'Dark Yellow' Competing for International Short Film Festival
The said competition is known as one of Asia's most significant international short film festivals, accredited by the American Academy Awards.
According to Asian Film Festivals, the organization reviewed more than 5,500 entries for the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, but only around 200 submissions made it to the cut.
For this year's competition, the festival will be held at multiple venues in Tokyo, Japan, with the opening ceremony starting on June 7 until June 20.
Interestingly, Goo Hye Sun's film "Dark Yellow" was among the competitors for Asian International & Japan Program.
The category presents short films from 14 different Asian countries, and out of 639 submissions, only 23 entries were included in the category,
Aside from "Dark Yellow," another South Korean short film has made it as a finalist.
The 2021 movie "The Hands," directed by Seowon Jung, was also selected alongside other entries from Japan, Taiwan, Myanmar, Pakistan, and more.
What We Know So Far About Goo Hye Sun's Short Film' Dark Yellow'
In 2021, the actress-director confirmed the cast lineup for her upcoming short film.
As noted by a media outlet, Goo Hye Sun announced that Ahn Seo Hyun, Im Ji Kyu, Yeon Jae Hwang, and Yoon Hyuk Jin would be joining the short film. In addition, the "Boys Over Flowers" star will also join as the main character.
"Dark Yellow" is a horror melodrama that depicts the story of a woman who works in a yellow flower show and her encounter with a strange man who suddenly showed interest in her. Unfortunately, his obsession starts to invade her private space.

At the time of the announcement, the 37-year-old actress-director shared that she "has always wanted to work with Im Ji Kyu again," and with this, Goo Hye Sun "created an epilogue specifically for him."
"Dark Yellow" will be Im Ji Kyu's second time working with Goo Hye Sun. He previously worked with Goo Hye Sun for her directorial debut film "Magic" back in 2010.

Prior to the achievement of her short film, the 37-year-old actress recently made it to the headlines after teasing fans with her relationship status.
On Goo Hye Sun's Instagram, she opened up about her romance, saying "I broke up with my boyfriend," alongside a series of photos of exuding pain and heartbreak.
Days later, her IG post suggests that it was for a commercial shoot for the brand TRY.
In a new post, Goo Hye Sun's Instagram clarified that it was for the clothing brand that selected her as a muse.
"I broke up with my boyfriend. I decided not to return your underwear. It's more comfortable than you. Is your love comfortable? TRY," the caption reads with the advertisement's new video.
