With the huge craze it created in 2021, the psychological K-drama is set to return in 2024.

Following the update regarding the cast lineup, the streaming giant still released cuts featuring the lead stars.

However, one cast member truly excites fans.

'Squid Game' Season 2 Teaser: Netflix Drops First Look on Hit K-Drama's Sequel

Netflix released the first look of "Squid Game" Season 2, showcasing the return of Lee Jung Jae as Seong Gi Hoon.

In the first trailer, Seong Gi Hoon received a phone call from a man telling him, "You'll regret your decision," to which he replied, "I will find you. No matter what it takes."

In addition, the upcoming sequel also featured the mysterious frontman, played by Lee Byung Hun.

Interestingly, the "Squid Game" Season 2 teaser unveiled Gong Yoo as the villain.

He played as the recruiter who met Gi Hoon at the train station.

As for the upcoming season, the recruiter meets Seong Gi Hoon, this time in a different setting.

Viewers Excited to See Gong Yoo's Villain Character in 'Squid Game' Season 2

Following the release of the sequel's teaser, fans gushed over Gong Yoo's character as the antagonist in the upcoming season. Viewers are excited for the actor's comeback, reprising his role as the recruiter.

With this, fans are looking forward to his character growth and his connection with Seong Gi Hoon's return.

Director Hwang Dong Hyuk previously told The Hollywood Reporter about the changes for the upcoming season.

According to him, following the craze of the first season, it "all naturally extends" to Season 2.

While doing the script for the K-drama, director Hwang Dong Hyuk "just thought about the last moment when Gi Hoon turned away from boarding the plane, and I thought about what he would do next."

The exact scene was featured in the first trailer for "Squid Game" season 2.

In addition, the director also teased fans with the transformation of Seong Gi Hoon.

According to him, "Squid Game" Season 2 will be "about what that new Gi Hoon is going to do and how things will unfold with this new kind of character."

As for the cast, the upcoming season featured a mix of new and returning characters.
